Organic Lemonade

When life gives lemons I turn them into delicious Lemonade. Indeed, life's good and we are so fortunate to get juicy organic lemons from  friend's backyard.

Lemon is so versatile and associated with many health benefits. Because of its wonderful fragrance lemons are always great use for many beverages and food
Lemons are very high in Vitamin-C and potassium and other minerals. My day starts with a cup of lemon infused green tea.

Few years back one friend shared an wonderful natural remedy. Whenever my kids starts sneezing during the seasonal changes, I give them a cup of water mixed with 1tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice. They stop sneezing after a while. I repeat couple of times. Though in severe cases it may not work. So lemons are sitting in the refrigerator all year long in our house.

As soon as summer approaches my kids look for summer coolers to beat the scorching heat, such as smoothies, lassis, Indian Cumin Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, any stone fruit lemonade or just Lemonade.

This is my simple recipe for Lemonade. Just three ingredients and five minutes, it's that easy! No preservative, no artificial color, just pure and simple. Adjust sweetness level as per taste depending on how sour lemon is.

 Ingredients~
 1 cup organic raw sugar
 1 warm cup water
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
 6 cups cold water
 1/8tsp of salt
 Ice cubes and lemon slices

Method~
Place the sugar and warm water in a bowl and stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Strain the juice. Pour all the ingredients except ice cubes and lemon slices into a pitcher and stir well. Taste and adjust sweetness level according to your taste. Refrigerate at least 20 minutes. Serve with ice and sliced lemons. Lemonade will stay fresh in the refrigerator up to 2 days.

                                      Happy summer!
