Graham Cracker Gingerbread House

"Gingerbread house" is a fun holiday project with kids. I really want to make it from scratch but there are some days I just need for myself. Sometimes it becomes too stressful during Christmas. So I use graham cracker instead of buying the premade kit for "Gingerbread House."

My daughter had small Gingerbread house projects several times at school with graham crackers. I got that concept from there. No worries about measuring ingredients, mixing, rolling, shaping and baking the dough. It's simple and foolproof. Today I am going to share how I made small "Gingerbread House" out of graham crackers. It takes about 20 minutes to assemble, then sits in the refrigerator for a while to get solid. Decorate any way you like. This is the easiest way to enjoy the Gingerbread House.

Ingredients~
5 full size graham cracker sheets
10 oz. can vanilla frosting
Candy canes and other candies
Marshmallows

Equipment~
Serrated knife
Piping bag
Small cake board or plate

Method~
Break gently one full sheet in half for side walls. Then saw two triangular gables for front and end wall with a serrated knife. Make sure not to press too hard while sawing. Smooth out the edges. For two roofs, saw 1/4 of each full sheet. Smooth the edges again. See pictures below.

Put frosting in a plastic bag, then seal the bag and sniff off the corner of the bag. Take one triangular peak piece  and squeeze a line of frosting on to the inside wall then place a half piece cracker to the frosted piece. Hold it to secure for 20 seconds but don't press hard. Repeat same process on the other side. Let it dry for 15 minutes before putting roofs. Now line of frosting on the roof lines and place roofs on the both sides. Let them dry for a while. Squeeze a line on the bottom edges of the house and place on a cake board or a plate to secure the house. Let it dry for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator. For decoration I have used marshmallows, holiday m&n, candy canes and flour. Now use your imagination to decorate the house with kids. Happy Holidays!!
