Holiday Sangria

My holiday spirit is still flowing and I have few more recipes to share. Sangria, an alcoholic fruit punch of Spanish origin typically consists of red wine, chopped fruits, soda water, fruit juice and sometimes different spirits. I didn't develop a taste for red wine though so I use white zinfandel instead. Adding seasonal fruits such as pomegranate and cranberry make this drink very festive since this is Christmas holiday.

Sangria looks so fancy but simple to make. Wine doesn't have to be pricey for Sangria. I use Beringer White Zinfandel which is fairly inexpensive wine. For kids I simply omit the wine so they don't feel left alone. Lets gather around the Christmas tree before holiday ends with family and friends to sip this fruity cocktail.

Ingredients~
1-750ml bottle Zinfandel
Half bottle( 750ml)of sparkling apple pomegranate sparkling cider
2 cups grape juice
4 Mandarin oranges
1 big gala apple
1 cup fresh cranberry
1 cup fresh pomegranate seeds

Method~
Wash fruits and pat dry with paper towels. Cut apple into small pieces and slice oranges. Place chopped apples, orange slices, cranberry and pomegranate seeds in a pitcher. Pour wine, cider and juice. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Pour sangria into glasses and top with fruits. Sip and enjoy. Happy holidays!!
